Lessons in Motherhood

It was only a matter of time before the little one got sick, and so it goes. She’s contracted her first ear infection. I’m so proud. Not really. I’m so sad because now I have to feed her Amoxicillin. Yes I had to go in the fridge and get the bottle to spell that. So, let me use it one more time…Not Amoxicillin!!! Ugh. This stuff is gross. It looks like Pepto-Bismol and smells like moldy candied cherries. Seriously nasty stuff. It wouldn’t be nearly as nasty if she would actually drink it instead of spitting it out the second I get a drop in her mouth. Instead, I end up cleaning bright pink sticky stuff off of her neck, my pants, the floor, her clothes, etc. I mean, how am I supposed to dose it correctly when only some unknown percentage of liquid actually makes it into her system? I suck at this medicine thing. Stupid ear infections.

Oh yeah…how could I forget? While I’m complaining about droppers and liquid and spitting, let me just add this to the pile…Sophia also has to take iron drops. Iron drops are seriously worse than Amoxicillin. They smell like rusty metal, look like burned maple syrup, and stain everything. She won’t take those either. Stupid low iron.
